Synopsis

Our client – one of the region’s largest media organisations – is pursuing a dramatic program of renewal to meet the challenges of its vastly changed industry landscape.  Catalyste has been privileged to work with this client as a key change and transformation partner across several initiatives.

This client has been implementing a range of significant change programs, driven by two key objectives:

  1. Dramatically reduce operating costs across the entire organisation
  2. Reinvent itself, drive cultural change, and remain relevant in the new digital age.

One of its key change programs involved implementing Activity Based Working at two key locations, impacting over 2,000 employees.

This project involves the implementation of new IT infrastructure, including mobile working for all employees (laptop & WiFi rollout) and new audio-visual capabilities at both sites, plus of course the actual physical infrastructure of Activity Based Working.

Catalyste’s Role

Catalyste was asked to lead the entire People component of the project, with a focus on adoption and behavioural change.

This involved working alongside the pilot implementation, reviewing all change management and people components and plans, and then to manage the change management team/resources through implementation.

Our work included delivering:

  • Change Management plans, resourcing requirements and budgets
  • A People Risk register – identifying the key people risks and mitigating actions
  • A review and reworking of all training and communications plans and materials
  • Facilitation of a mid-point project review based on team and business feedback and resulting in the review of project roles and Detailed “People Plans” for each business area moving to the new way of working
  • A Google site where all employees were able to select their new laptops and accessories, schedule in their training and provide feedback on the training and support they had received during the change
  • A “new starter” process to cater for new employees during and after project implementation responsibilities.

Value Delivered

Catalyste’s involvement has significantly increased engagement with and buy-in for the changes, and has de-risked the project by a significant margin.

Other benefits included:

  • Reducing real estate costs
  • Increasing revenue (through real estate leasing opportunities)
  • Helping deliver a flexible and collaborative workplace environment.
